About me

Too many things interests me. But most of all, creating is very fun. There’s just something magical about turning wild ideas into real, tangible stuff.

This website is my nerdy space on the internet where I present some of my projects and publish my notes.

Me

Introduction

I have been messing around with computer and programming for over 25 years, designing, drawing, sketching and building things ever since I can remember.

Since my young ages I have alway been fan of DIY, painting, drawing, making stuff with cardboard and especially model kits. I painted figurine sets of the HeroQuest and Space Crusade board games. I made countless models, spiting glue and paint everywhere.

Then I got my first computer back in 1994. It was an Olivetti 486-DX2-66, with a 66MHz processor and 8mb of ram. It was running on Windows 3.1. A few months latter, I got a copy of Windows 95 thanks to my dad. I then reinstalled the system and everything really started from there. I got to get my first dial-up Internet access with a 14.4k modem. With internet a completely new and undiscovered world opened to me. This was the age of Altavista and Angelfire. I quickly got interested in the making of web pages and started learning HTML and CSS and using Microsoft FrontPage. At that time, I also started to get interested in digital graphics and started to use softwares like 3D Studio Max, Photoshop and Illustrator.

In the midst of my exploration into the world of computers, digital graphics and internet, a new technology emerged: Flash from Macromedia I completely felt in love with it and embarked on my programming journey with my first programming language, ActionScript. In the early 2000s I had the pleasure to become moderator for a French forum, Mediabox, now Ziggourat, specialized in Flash. At this time, the ecosystem of Flash had evolved a lot with Flex and AIR and ActionScript 3. I started to use a little of Java and PHP with MySQL. At that time I, was finishing school in advertising and also doing a lot of 3D, design and traditional arts. I was also getting more involved in computer sciences. Getting updated on technologies, trying new frameworks and languages.

Nowadays, my interests have grown and diverge, covering a wide spectrum. I love reading, especially about philosophy, psychology and human behaviours. I have interest in sciences, physics, biology and mechanical. Spaces and astronomy fascinate me. I do woodworking. I love to garden to cook and to take walks with my dog.

Information and technologies

I’m passionate by technologies, data organization and structuring. I have mainly interests in server infrastructure and architecture, database modelling, backend programming, iot, networking, protocols and A.I. But almost anything related to computers and the treatment of data/informations interest me.

You can checkout my notes on many topics that interests me here on this website.

Computers and GNU/Linux

My computers runs on custom Debian or ArchLinux with i3wm, polybar and dmenu. My text editor is Neovim, obviously! I use VSCode for programming and Zsh as shell. Beside that I love the versatility, customizability of Linux, and bash scripting.

Laptop screen

You can checkout my dotfiles here on GitHub for a more in depth view of my computers environments and configurations. I manage my environments infrastructures with Ansible.

I mainly use and work with my laptops so I can move where I want. I have an old EliteBook 2540p with an i7 that I have upgraded to 8GB and added an mSATA SSD.

The other laptop is a Lattitude E5410 with an i5 and 4GB, running on [Debian 11]. Its main usage it’s for testing or deploying Docker services.

I also now only have a desktop, a Gigabyte with an i7-3770, 16 GB and it run with Debian, Arch Linux, and Windows.

I keep a version of Windows installed on an SSD specifically for running graphics and design software such as Blender, Unity, as well as for playing games!
